"Hypnosis joins medical mainstream" reads Louisiana paper

The website for the Advocate newspaper and Channel 2 News of Baton Rouge, Louisiana ran an article on local Hypnotherapist Terry Menard of Lafayette, LA. (link has gone dead)

The first paragraph of the article reads:

"Once viewed as the exclusive domain of quacks and swindlers, hypnotherapy has successfully emerged into the medical mainstream since its acceptance by the American Medical Association in 1958."

While the article is positive press for our industry, it is an indicator of the status of hypnosis in the minds of the public and the press. Perceptions are still holding as rather outdated and limited. It seems general opinions in many circles have been stagnent the last 20 years.

As members of AAPH, it is part of our mission to educate the public about hypnotherapy and the mind-body connection and power for health.

If you have friends or family that don't know the modern scoop on hypnotherapy, be sure to find an opportunity to bring it up and update their knowledge of the subject. Bringing up the topic is always popular at community events, social gatherings, etc. - as you know, hypnosis is always a subject that grabs people's interest. While you have their interest, endeaver to update folks as to the state of the art!

In addition to advancing knowledge of our industry, it might well lead to new clients for you as well!
